FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Roverdrive, how it works, and how to get early access to the kit.

What is Roverdrive?

Roverdrive is an interactive learning tool that teaches kids how to code by programming a real robot rover. Using a simple drag-and-drop system similar to Scratch, you create programs by snapping code blocks together. When you press run, the physical rover executes those instructions through Bluetooth, making programming tangible and fun.

Do I need coding experience to use Roverdrive?

No. Roverdrive is designed from the ground up for beginners. The drag-and-drop interface is intuitive, and the sandbox and campaign modes guide you through challenges step by step. You can start with zero experience and build real coding skills by seeing your code move.

How does the rover connect to the app?

The rover communicates with the app via Bluetooth. Once paired, your code blocks execute instantly on the physical robot. You can also control it with a joystick in manual controller mode for hands-on practice.

What is sandbox mode vs. campaign mode?

Sandbox mode lets you freely experiment and test any code ideas without limits. Campaign mode offers guided challenges that progressively teach programming concepts like loops, conditionals, and sensors. Both modes run your code on the real rover.

Can I customize the rover?

Yes. You can swap wheels, attach modules like sensors or claws, and extend the rover's capabilities. The app automatically recognizes any modules you add, so your code blocks adapt to what your robot can do.

Is Roverdrive suitable for classrooms?

Absolutely. We designed Roverdrive with educators in mind. It's affordable, hands-on, and scales well for group learning. Teachers can set up challenges, monitor progress, and help students build confidence in programming without expensive or complex tools.

What information does Roverdrive collect when I join the waitlist?

We collect your email address, the role you select, and how you found us. This helps us send targeted launch updates. We never share or sell your data - email is used only for Roverdrive communication.

When will Roverdrive be available?

We're finalizing the first batch and expanding the app with more missions and classroom tools. Joining the waitlist gives you early launch notices, exclusive demos, and first access when orders open.

How much does a Roverdrive kit cost to build?

A fully functional Roverdrive robot costs less than $20 in parts. The rover runs on an Arduino Nano, and all components (including the chassis) are designed and 3D-printed by us. This makes hands-on robotics accessible without expensive kits.
